Lower Milford Historical Society -- A Good Beginning

tr

Society Inception

Over several years, there have been a number of discussions about forming a Lower Milford Historical Society. Many people within the Township expressed an interest in our origins, history, and people. A small group of people organized the Historical Society in June 2005. Currently, the Society is developing an inventory of historic buildings, obtaining verbal and written histories and anecdotes about Lower Milford Township, and cataloging various pictures, artifacts, and documents of historical significance.

Currently the Society is developing a logo that is based on hex signs and the popular Tree of Life sign shown here. We would like to replace the symbols on the tree with ones that have significance to the community. If anyone with artistic talent, knowledge of hex sign symbols, or just wanting to help, please contact us.

Bicentennial Brochure

During the American Bicentennial Celebration in 1976, Lower Milford Township was recognized as an American Revolution Bicentennial Community. The Lower Milford Bicentennial Committee issued a booklet commemorating the history and heritage of this community. The Lower Milford Historical Society reproduced the text and pictures of the booklet that was issued so that it might obtain the wide distribution that it justly deserves. Only the formatting has been changed.

We gratefully acknowledge the members of the Lower Milford Bicentennial Committee for a job well done.

The brochure is reproduced as an Acrobat Reader "pdf" file. To obtain it, please click here or at the bottom of this note. Note: The file is about 5Mb long. A dial-up download will take a significant amount of time.
