History Worth Preserving
Lower Milford Township has a rich history. It has
been primarily a farming area. Because of its water resources it has
supported a number of mills, the remnants of a few still exist today.
It has a tradition of diverse religions as well as numerous schools in
the Township. Even today, the Township has a number of old homes, farms,
hotels, and other historically significant features that remind us of the past
and the beauty of the area. It is a proud and
interesting history that should be preserved.
Limeport Stadium is 75 Years Old this year
Congratulations to the Limeport Stadium on its 75th Anniversary. From the time
Mr. Fegley built the stadium in 1933,
the stadium has developed a great history of teams, players, and has become a
cornerstone of our community.
Al this has been accomplished primary by a small group of volunteers. We congratulate them on developing great memories
at the oldest stadium in Pennsylvania. Each summer, they remind us what America's pastime is all about
Southern Lehigh held their graduation at Limeport Stadium for many
years. This photo was from the 1954 graduation. We would like to
collect pictures, stories, and other items for various projects we are
undertaking. Please email us if you
can donate anything. All items will be scanned and returned.

Formation of Lower Milford Historical Society Offers More Benefits
After three years as an informal group, the Lower Milford Historical Society has
organized into an unincorporated association. Among the
perceived benefits are:
- A formal process for maintaining leadership in the Society
- A process for fund raising that would provide tax deductions for donors
- An ability to obtain grants and corporate sponsorship for various projects
- A basis to fund projects and events that would be of interest to members and the community at large
- A better basis for establishing links with other Historical Societies
The Articles of
Association have been approved. The By-Laws shoould be approved at our next
meeting on July 28th. The Society is in the process of
obtaining the required tax exemptions. If you
have any suggestions, comments, contributions, want further information, or wish to
join the Lower Milford Historical Society, please contact us
Moving to a Dynamic, Useful, and Informative Society
This site was started in August 2006 to present some of the Lower Milford Township's
history and to act as a central point for the activities of the
Historical Society. As the site develops, it will contain some of the
history of the Township, pictures, past and present, of some of the
unique places and people that lived in the area, and stories and
recollections of some of our residents. Check back often to see the new
additions.
As with any effort, its success depends on the people willing to
contribute to it. If you have any material relevant to the history of
the Township, please contact us. We also welcome anyone who would like to join the Society. Click Here to join.
